Keeping up with kid fashionistas

- NADIA SALEMME

CELEBRITY kids are fast becoming the world’s most influential style stars, sporting outfits that cost serious cash.

The owner of a leading Australian designer kids’ fashion site has branded Blue Ivy – the daughter of Beyonce and Jay Z – as the most copied celebrity tot in Hollywood.

“She’s the benchmark and everybody comes below her,” LM Bambini owner Natalia Thliveris said.

Designer clothes for kids is becoming a huge trend in Australia, with cashed-up mums forking out $1200 on a silk Dolce & Gabbana dress ... for their three-year-olds.

Some labels including Gucci command $3000-4000 per outfit as the “mini me” trend – where mums dress in similar styles to their kids – becomes increasingly popular, Thliveris said.

Kim Kardashian and Beyonce often dress their kids in similar styles to what they wear.

Kardashian and her husband, rapper Kanye West, went a step further and launched a high-end line of designer clothing for kids, TheKidsSupply, complete with tiny Yeezys, Kanye’s brand of runners.

Thliveris said some designer dresses for under 10s made by Gucci and Dolce & Gabbana cost thousands (her site also stocks luxury brands including Stella McCartney and Kenzo, with Fendi and Aquazzura’s kid collections “coming soon”).

“We haven’t got Gucci yet but a kids’ dress from Gucci can fetch around $3000 or $4000,” she said. “They sell like hot cakes, that’s the funny thing, they sell out.”

And it’s not just cashed-up celebs who are buying them.

“There are mums who are high earners and there are mums who just love dressing their kids up,” Thliveris said.

She said Blue Ivy was the “standout” for influencing Aussie shoppers, followed by royal tots Prince George and Princess Charlotte.
