Title: Hot Dog: Party Time Author: Anh Do
Illustrator: Dan McGuiness Publisher: Scholastic ★★★★
THIS exciting novel is part of the Hot Dog series by Anh Do,
who is also the author of the WeirDo series.
The story takes place in a small dog’s home. There is Hot Dog, a friendly and helpful “sausage dog”, Lizzie the lizard who is determined to succeed, Kev the hungry cat who seems a bit clueless and two mischievous friends, Rooster and Donkey.
In this tale, Lizzie and Hot Dog create a surprise birthday party for a friend except, when Hot Dog goes to get the present, he takes the last dino bike and some aren’t happy.
Will the party be OK or will it get ruined? I think most people will relate to the events surrounding the party.
Party Time is a hilarious book with spectacular drawings on most pages.
If you like novels and picture books, then this is two in one.
Anh Do uses magnificently descriptive words that let you picture the story in your mind.
I love the funny vocabulary, especially how Anh Do makes a joke by giving the name Hot Dog to the sausage dog!
I think the characters are very creative and funny and they all had a special part to contribute to the story.
The story is creative and funny. If you enjoy humorous stories, novels, or picture books then this for you.
I think the best age group for Party Time would be six to 11 year olds because it has a lot of pictures and it has funny words which most kids like.
