Greene’s all fine over face kicking
GREATER Western Sydney’s Toby Greene has escaped with a fine for the unusual incident that left Bulldogs star Luke Dahlhaus nursing a split lip.
Greene was reported for rough conduct during Friday night’s win over the Bulldogs after he caught Dahlhaus in the face with his right boot in a marking contest.
However, the AFL’s match review panel amended the charge to engaging in misconduct, which allowed them to slap Greene with a $2500 fine that will drop to $1500 with an early plea.
The controversial Giant had been facing the prospect of his third ban for the season, but instead received his third fine.
Dogs forward Jack Redpath was the only player to be offered a suspension – a twomatch ban for striking Phil Davis – after the MRP’s assessment of Round 21 action. Port Adelaide star Ollie Wines faced a nervous wait after his high hit on Collingwood’s Tom Langdon, but he is free to face the Dogs in Ballarat on Saturday after being slapped with a fine.
North Melbourne’s Brayden Preuss, Gold Coast’s Jack Martin and Essendon’s Ben Howlett can also accept fines.
