Blanc bent on encore

ADULTS-ONLY romp Blanc de Blanc has set the stage for its triumphant return to the Coast — this time to pitch a new Spiegeltent in Southport.

The stunning Aurora Spiegeltent will make its Coast debut when the Strut & Fret produced champagne cabaret bumps into Broadwater Parklands from October 5 to November 5.

The spiegeltent will be set up on the northern side of the Southport Aquatic Centre to avoid a date-clash with the Gold Coast 600 race weekend concerts in the parklands’ south on October 20-21.

Devised by the creative minds behind Madonna’s Rebel Heart Tour, Blanc de Blanc was the talk of the town when it debuted in the magnificent Belgian Magic Mirrors Spiegeltent in Victoria Park, Broadbeach, during the Bleach* Festival in April.

Director Scott Maidment said cast and crew were “blown away” by local audiences’ response to the show — “a heady, bubble filled, overflowing, crazy party”.

“So many people have contacted us wanting to know when we are coming back. We couldn’t wait until next year, so by popular demand we are back in October,” Mr Maidment said.

He said audiences could look forward to more big moves, great tunes, “lots of skin” and extra surprises, with the show’s popular cast members to be joined by “a sprinkling of new characters”.

The show’s new 800-guest venue, the 24m diameter art deco Aurora Spiegeltent, has been shipped to Australia from Europe to host Blanc de Blanc tours, including its current season at the Darwin Festival until August 27.
