HEARING AWARENESS

WEEK: The Australian Hearing calls on people to have a free check up at one of three Gold Coast locations: Nerang Library on the corner of Price and White streets on Monday, August 21, 10am-2pm; Terry White Robina Town Centre on Tuesday, August 22, 9amnoon; and Australian Hearing at 9 Lawson St, Southport, on Thursday, August 24, 9am4pm. No appointmen­ts necessary. Australian Hearing provides subsidised hearing care for eligible people, including pensioners, veterans, children and young adults under 26, Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people over 50 and adults with complex hearing needs. ST JAMES: Services at the Anglican Church in Mermaid Beach will continue despite extensive renovation­s. Father Reg Mills says work on the Dolphin Avenue place of worship will take about two months. Mass and other services are taking place in the rectory next door. Worshipper­s and visitors are advised to remain outside the constructi­on fence perimeter.
