Breakfast health link
YOUNGSTERS are damaging their health by skipping breakfast, a UK study has found.
Nearly one in three older children forgo a morning meal – with girls more likely to miss out than boys.
But the consequences could lead to stunted growth, anaemia and ill-health, say researchers at King’s College London.
Of children aged 11-18, 27 per cent missed breakfast every day, compared with 6.5 per cent of 4-10-year-olds.
Those skipping breakfast had lower levels of several key nutrients, including fibre folate, iodine and iron.
