Sales highlighting robust Southport
THE market for development sites in Southport continues to show strength with the sale of two vacant neighbouring sites in a six-week period.
A 1340sq m site at 30 Lawson St and 9-11 High St sold for $2.2 million in June and a 1133sq m double block nextdoor at 26-28 Lawson St was snapped up for $1.601 million at auction last week. Marketing agent Amir Mian, Prestige Property Agents, of said in both cases the buyers hailed from the Gold Coast and planned on developing the sites.
Mr Mian said the buyer of 26-28 Lawson St had plans for a boutique nine- or 10-level residential tower while the purchaser of 30 Lawson St, Ding Sharn Pty Ltd, was considering a commercial precinct on the land.
Both sites are in precinct one of the Southport Priority Development Area, which allows unlimited building height.
Mr Mian said the auction for 26-28 Lawson St was highly competitive.
He said Southport remained the flavour of the month for development sites.
“There is really strong demand for sites like these in Southport,” he said.
“The light rail linking up with the heavy rail in Helensvale is also driving sales in the area.”
