Whispering Jack to meet Jacob

- SUZANNE SIMONOT suzanne.simonot@news.com.au

JOHN Farnham live in concert at Jacobs Well? Bet you never thought you’d live to see that.

The ARIA Hall of Famer will top an all-Australian bill when the 2018 Red Hot Summer Tour opens at Harrigan’s Drift Inn on February 17.

Farnham will be joined by Daryl Braithwaite, Baby Animals, Joe Camilleri and The Black Sorrows (with Vika and Linda) and 1927.

The tour is expected to sell out, with tickets to go on sale at midday on Thursday.

One of the biggest touring festivals in the country, Red Hot Summer recently announced Suzi Quatro would headline its first 2018 run.

Promoter Duane McDonald said Farnham was a hit with audiences when he performed on part of this year’s sold-out Red Hot Summer tour.

“It is going to be a massive summer. We are taking the festival into some towns and venues that we have never played at before.”

Farnham’s 1986 album Whispering Jack was the first record to sell more than one million copies in Australia.

While Farnham’s leg of the 2017 Red Hot Summer tour didn’t include a Coast show, the singer played a sold-out, standalone concert at The Star Gold Coast on February 23 – his first Gold Coast theatre show in more than a decade.
