Ipswich has new mayor
IPSWICH councillor Andrew Antoniolli has called victory in the by-election to replace longserving mayor Paul Pisasale.
Mr Pisasale was mayor of Ipswich for 13 years before resigning suddenly in June amid allegations of corruption.
Mr Antoniolli was leading the count late yesterday with 32,355 votes, ahead of rival and acting mayor Paul Tully’s 28,801 votes, with eighty per cent of the vote counted.
