Fugitive four in focus
State most wanted on crime roll
A MAN allegedly involved in a double murder on the Gold Coast and an accused drug trafficking couple are among the country’s most wanted fugitives.
The annual list of runaways, dubbed Operation Roam, will be released by Crime Stoppers today and features four fugitives wanted in Queensland.
The community has been urged to put the fugitives on their radar but to never approach them.
Among the Queenslanders is John Victor Bobak, 67, who is wanted over the murders of Maureen Ambrose and Peter George Wade in 1991. Their bodies were found in a unit on Wheelan St, Surfers Paradise, with gunshot wounds.
Ronald Henry Thomas was convicted in 1997 for his role in the murders but authorities have been unable to track down Bobak since a warrant was issued for his arrest in April 1992.
Also wanted by Queensland Police are accused drug traffickers Kathleen Ann Grey, 46 – the only woman featured on this year’s list – and her husband Jonathan, 41.
The duo had been charged with drug offences involving heroin and cannabis when they failed to appear in court in December.
Thomas Peter Walsh, 28, is also wanted in Queensland for the alleged possession of a large amount of ice found in a South Brisbane apartment in January. Detectives believe he may have fled to NSW.
Crime Stoppers Australia chairman Trevor O’Hara said any of these fugitives “could be working alongside you in your community”.
“It might be a new person you’ve noticed in your area or a more familiar face such as a neighbour, work colleague, friend or even a family member,” he said.
“Many of these people are wanted for a range of serious offences, so we advise members of the public to put them on your radar but do not approach them in any circumstances.”
Of the 19 fugitives last year, 12 have arrested. listed been
