Pay row hits council
GOLD Coast council workers will stop work tomorrow after pay negotiations deteriorated.
Workers including cleaners, animal management, maintenance, town planning and administration staff will down tools for the day before a rally at the Evandale Council Chambers at 1pm.
A sticking point in the negotiations has been the council’s refusal to include a clause in the Enterprise Bargaining Agreement to ensure full-time workers are replaced when they leave.
The strike comes the same day council CEO Dale Dickson is set to hand down an update on his report into restructuring the council, including a staff reduction proposal. The finalised report is due by September 15.
