MEDIA reporting the majority of Australians agree with Pauline Hanson’s latest request in Parliament to have the burqa banned, yet was ridiculed by a few spineless male politicians.

Has it not occurred to these gullible politicians that one day a terrorist will don a burqa and cause horrific carnage in a crowded area?

KEN WADE, TWEED HEADS

AGAIN we cop the waffle of the LNP’s David Crisafulli (“We’re over the hoon,” GCB, 18/8) this time outside of the electorate he is supposed to be running for.

As a professional driver I see the tyre marks from the night before hooning every single day.

Helensvale Rd, Helensvale, Export Dve, Ashmore, Station Rd Nerang, are just a few notables.

It does not matter about the laws because there are never enough police to mount serious blitzes on hooning spots.

The police from Coomera who cover that area are hard pressed to cover the huge area they have to cover and the highway patrol have insufficient numbers to mount major operations.

The local councillor must be awake to the fact that his silly signs are good during the day but to deal with these kinds of people the council needs to erect traffic monitoring cameras to catch the vision of these late-night fools so the police can actually prosecute.

It seems to me the “boy from the bush” still has his mind set for Townsville rather than a modern city like the Gold Coast.

At least his One Nation opponent has given us a solution of double police numbers, 24-hour police stations and more resources rather than just stand in the road to get his photo taken, which seems to be all the LNP candidate is good at.

RON NIGHTINGALE, BIGGERA WATERS

ROD Watson (GCB, 18/8) asserts that because wharves and jetties attract sealife, the development of The Spit would not be environmentally devastating.

I’d like to remind Rod that native bushland, grasses and trees do not grow on wharves and jetties and nor do the birds and animals that rely on them for survival.

I FEEL sorry for Barnaby Joyce, I would hate to wake up one morning to find out I was a Kiwi.

When is commonsense going to come into play? Barnaby was conceived and born in Australia. in my books that makes him Australian.

NOW the far left wants us to be ashamed of our national day. It serves nothing but to further divide us as a nation.

Alt right supporters must be rubbing their hands with glee. See how far the termites of division have penetrated and how long and well they’ve dined.
