Drag racing pair die in horror crash

Two men killed in a racing accident on Saturday night have been remembered for their love of motorsport. Kurt Bull and his co-driver died when their vehicle slammed into a wall during the Roll Racing Brisbane event at Queensland Raceways at Ipswich. Mr Bull, who was also an avid surfer, was remembered by family and friends as someone who lived life to the full.

Great fundraisin­g offer happy to hit snag

School fundraisin­g is set to sizzle thanks to a tasty offer from a Burleigh butcher. The Gold Coast Fresh Meat Centre has created Snags 4 Schools to supply all sausages, a marquee, table and aprons, free of charge, to applicants wishing to hold a school sausage sizzle. The familyowne­d business has been at Burleigh Heads for almost 20 years, and owner Shane Taylor said they wanted to give back to the community for their loyalty.

Mum tells of trauma of ‘normal birth’

The birth of baby Leo on Boxing Day last year should have been the happiest day of April Hagan’s life but she has been left traumatise­d. Two weeks overdue with a large baby on board, the first-time mum wishes she was offered a caesarean when things were not looking good, but Ms Hagan believes the push for a “normal birth” took precedence and her son had to be delivered by forceps as a result.

Class resumes after hostage threat

Classes have returned at one of the Gold Coast’s busiest schools after a hostage and bomb threat forced it into lockdown yesterday morning. Ashmore State School was put in lockdown just after the school day started with parents of students receiving an email telling them the school and its students were the subject of a bomb and hostage threat.
