Kyrgios final hopes dashed

-

NICK Kyrgios’ first ATP 1000 final, the first by an Aussie in 12 years, ended in a 6-3, 7-5 loss to top-10 entrant Grigor Dimitrov in Cincinnati.

The 22-year-old Australian, in a candid and at times playful mood, later said he was off to spend at least two days in Kansas to relax before next week’s US Open and watch his friend Jack Sock practise.

Kyrgios said he would not fathom how he reached the final, returning to the top 20 at No.18, and could not guarantee a good run at the US Open.
