DON’T MISS: OUR NEW FISHING SECTION WITH LUKE BRADNAM, STARTING TOMORROW PLUS: YOUR CHANCE TO WIN A TINNIE THE short life and sudden death of Breeana Robinson, who fell 11 storeys from Southport’s H20 building in 2013, will again be examined by a court, with a coronial inquest set for later this year.

In the years since her death, relatives of the 21-year-old aspiring dancer have fought for an inquest to establish what happened the night she fell from the balcony of the apart- ment she shared with her boyfriend Dan Shearin.

Shearin was branded a “pig” and a “coward” as he was sentenced to six months in prison for bombarding his legally blind girlfriend with hundreds of text messages before she died.

The sentence was overturned on appeal after he had spent 11 days behind bars and Shearin was given a 15-month good behaviour bond.

The inquest will be held for up to five days from November 27 at the Southport Courthouse.

Coroner James McDougall will investigate “the specific circumstances surrounding Breeana’s death, particularly how she came to fall to her death” and see whether any recommendations can be made to prevent deaths from occurring in similar circumstances.

The coroner cannot make any finding that a person is guilty of an offence or civilly liable and results of an inquest can’t be used as evidence in any court or tribunal.

However, the coroner can refer a matter to the Director of Public Prosecutions for consideration and possible action.

Last year, Shearin published a chilling tell-all book revealing how he watched his girlfriend plunge to her death minutes after he sent an abusive message.

He returned to court in February last year, pleading guilty to stalking a 35-year-old woman he met on a dating website, calling her a “sl--”, a “bitch” and a “(expletive) piece of sh--”. He was given 12 months’ probation.
