Pacific Fair had the city’s largest cinema, opening in 1997, while the international department store Daimaru which opened to great fanfare in 1998, closed in 2002. The same year the centre featured in the reality TV series The Mole. Increased competition from an expanded Robina Town Centre leads to plans for redevelopment.
