Projects boss’s shock exit
THE resignation of the Gold Coast City Council’s head of major projects left the councillor in charge of the area “shocked”.
Economic Development and Major Projects committee chairman Hermann Vorster yesterday said he was surprised when he received word major project bureaucrat Darren Scott had handed in his notice.
“I was really happy with him,” Cr Vorster said. “I suspect he was made a really great offer and he couldn’t refuse.”
Mr Scott’s resignation comes as a review into his department is being finalised.
The department is in charge of some of Mayor Tom Tate’s key projects, including the cruise ship terminal and the cultural precinct.
Mr Scott did not return the Bulletin’s calls.
