Dino secrets revealed
PALAEONTOLOGISTS from Townsville’s James Cook University have helped uncover the origin story of a 20m-long African dinosaur that died up to 100 million years ago.
Studying ancient insects that had bored down into the bones of the dinosaur, officially named shingopana songwensis, JCU researchers were able to find out when it died and how it was buried. Researchers compared shingopana with other dinosaurs and found the species was more diverse than previously thought.
