Nicholls calls for poll date
OPPOSITION Leader Tim Nicholls has repeated his call for Premier Annastacia Palaszczuk to name a date for the State Election, as speculation continues off the back of a horror parliamentary week for the minority Labor Government.
“The Premier should stop playing games, end the uncertainty and name an election date,” Mr Nicholls said.
The LNP is believed to have candidates locked in for about 80 of the 92 state seats.
The party’s final sitting MP to be re-endorsed – Gaven MP Sid Cramp – will front a preselection meeting on the Gold Coast tomorrow night.
This election date will be the last one called at the whim of the Premier, before the introduction of fixed terms. State elections will be held on the last Saturday in October after that.
