Cats claim final success

-

THE Broadbeach Cats women’s QWFA division two side has capped off undefeated season by beating Kedron 5.12 (42) to 3.-5 (23) in the grand final.

Broadbeach trailed by three points at halftime on the back of some wayward kicking but slotted five of their goals in the last two quarters to seal the win yesterday.

Beth Mclaughlin was named best on ground thanks to her three goal haul at Leyshon Park Oval.

It was a great day for women’s football on the Gold Coast with Bond University Sharkettes claiming the QWFA division one premiership.

Bond University beat Yeronga South Brisbane 8.2 (50) to 4.5 (29) at the same ground.

The Sharkettes kicked the first seven goals of the game while it took Yeronga South Brisbane until the end of the second quarter to record their first.

The margin proved too great and despite kicking three of the four goals in the second half Yeronga couldn’t produce a comeback.
