Coast gun sticking with Saints
GOLD Coast’s Sam Gilbert will go around one more time, after the St Kilda defender inked a one-year contract extension with the club.
The 31-year-old’s playing future had been unclear, but the Saints have rewarded his hard work and versatility, with the 197-game player pinch hitting in the ruck this season.
“I’m really excited about what we can accomplish as a group,” Gilbert said.
“We’re disappointed not to be in a better position (on the ladder) but the development of individuals this season will hold us in good stead for next year.
“I’ve enjoyed my role, playing up around the ball in the ruck, and also being part of a pretty stable defensive group.”
