Irish find pot of gold

WHEN it comes to hitting pay dirt, Irish eyes are smiling.

A new report listing the best and worst paid migrant groups in Australia shows the Irish on top, with a median personal income of $73,840 for 2013-14.

According to the Australian Bureau of Statistics, next were UK arrivals ($61,486), South Africans ($60,174) and Malaysians ($51,008).

The data was based on tax records.

At the lower end of the scale, Iraqi refugees earned only $25,416, Chinese refugees $25,794 and Afghans $27,738.
