Mostly enjoyed visit to the excellent University Hospital. Really profession­al and interested staff. But a 2-hour wait? There has to be a better appointmen­t system. Clearly they knew when I checked in at 9, I would be seen around 11.

Steggles closing a plant Lillydale also. I wonder if the halal tax they paid had any bearing on this event. Can’t say about Lillydale but I know Steggles does. How much does this BS add to their running costs? Concerned PH

Disappoint­ed to see Inspire article (GCB, 29/8) showing the top 10 designer breed dogs. This practice has seen puppy mills grow in numbers. You can’t guarantee the coat or temperamen­t of any of these mixes. The breeding dogs live in disgusting conditions. – M Parkwoode

Surfers Paradise and fights go hand-in-hand. Deal with it. The sound of grunts and the look of fists flying at the beer garden made for a great weekend. – Shazza

To those who took my comments about putting a moray eel in Evandale Lake to get the stonefish, it was tongue in cheek, good responses. – GT
