North Korea fires missile over Japan

North Korea has fired a missile in an act described as a “grave threat” by the Japanese government. The rogue nation launched what’s believed to be a ballistic missile from Pyongyang early yesterday. The move comes days after North Korea fired three short-range ballistic missiles into the sea and a month on from its second flight test of an interconti­nental ballistic missile, which analysts fear could reach the US mainland when perfected.

Possible bikie links to Mermaid stabbing

Police are investigat­ing possible bikie links to a stabbing incident at a Gold Coast canal estate. Detectives began questionin­g three men after a man was stabbed following an argument about 1am on Monday at Tequila Court in Mermaid Waters. A police spokesman said a man, 28, was later transporte­d to hospital with arm and torso injuries.

Man found dead after go-kart crash

A man whose body has been found in his go-kart is believed to have crashed it on Sunday night. It is understood the man, 34, drove his petrol go-kart down a steep road, where it hit a concrete median strip in Bilambil Heights. The kart veered across the road before crashing up a driveway where it stopped out of sight to motorists and passers by.

Dean’s tragic family release statement

The family of ironman legend Dean Mercer have issued a statement after he tragically died Monday morning following a car crash on the Gold Coast. “It is with great sadness and grief that we advise our beloved Dean — loving husband of Reen and devoted father to their four boys Brayden, 13, Rory, 11, Lachlan 9, and Joshua 6, passed away earlier today as a result of a cardiac arrest while driving on the Gold Coast,” the family statement said.
