HOW SHOULD THE GOLD COAST BE PROMOTED INTERNATIONALLY TO ATTRACT VISITORS TO THE CITY FOR THE COMMONWEALTH GAMES? Victoria Kalmar, Southport: Visitors may turn into locals, like we did. Promoting the lifestyle, great infrastructure, entertainment and fabulous restaurants might entice people to stay. Robert Kalmar, Southport: The Gold Coast offers a lot more than beaches and good weather. It’s a very liveable city and is easy to navigate for locals and tourists. Keinan Griffiths, Brisbane: I still believe the theme parks and beaches are the best way to promote the Gold Coast. They are the drawcards definitely. Kate Manlongat, Brisbane: Promote South Straddie, Mt Tamborine, or places like George’s Paragon Seafood Restaurant at Hope Island. Rachel O’Neill, Southport: Nature-based activities such as the Hinterland, in particular Springbrook, and also the beaches and Currumbin Wildlife Sanctuary. Tony Virili, Southport: Traditionally people come to the Gold Coast for the beaches but some people don’t want that. So, showcasing and utilising the Hinterland would give visitors more options.
