Go-kart victim’s mate pays his respects

Graham Cormack has paid tribute to his best mate Robbie Treweek, 34, who died after crashing his go-kart at Bilambil Heights on Sunday. Mr Cormack said his mate’s death still seemed surreal. “He was a funny person ... he’d be the one at his own funeral to say: ‘What are you all sooking about?’ and grab some beers, crank some tunes and have a laugh.”

How police caught alleged pokie bandit

An alleged pokie bandit broke into sports clubs, robbed machines and slipped away in just minutes. For eight years police allege Tony Glen Hazelwood, 53, raided more than 100 clubs in Queensland and NSW, netting hundreds of thousands of dollars. On Tuesday officers raided an Elanora home, seizing items before arresting him. Police will allege Hazelwood used “refined” methods of defeating security systems and machines at sports clubs between 2009 and 2017.

Mum left red-faced over Facebook fiasco

Lorna Thomas has taken the social media slip-up to a whole new level, after mistakenly leaving a Facebook message for the police asking how to log off, all while on her son’s account. All the English mum wanted to do was figure out how to log off her son Daniel’s account and sign in to her own but, through a series of clicks and a lot of confusion, she ended up on the Avon and Somerset Police Facebook page.

Job market not easy for some uni graduates

Data from the Good Universiti­es Guide reveals about 30 per cent of undergradu­ates left uni without any job prospects and were struggling to find work. About 70 per cent of grads were employed full-time within four months. But some unis are delivering better employment outcomes than others, and smaller, regional institutes are coming out on top.
