Henry after third win in succession

-

TWO-TIME defending champion Jeremy Henry is on the verge of an Australian Indoor Bowls Championship hat-trick after qualifying for today’s final at Tweed Heads.

Henry moved into the decider after beating national squad member Ben Twist in the semi-finals yesterday.

His opponent will be either David Ferguson or Dylan Riley, whose semi this morning will be an all-NSW affair.

If Henry wins he will join an impressive list of three-peat” winners, including the likes of nine-time winner Steve Glasson and six-time champion Karen Murphy.

In the women’s final, Australian representative Rebecca Van Asch, runner-up last year, will take on impressive Canadian Kelly McKerihen.

“I’ve seen Kelly play many times representing Canada,” Van Asch said after progressing yesterday.

“But I’ve never played against her in a singles game myself, so I’ll go out there with my own game plan.”

Both the men’s and women’s singles champions at the titles gain entry into next year’s World Cup.
