Driver dies after chase

A DRIVER has died in a fiery head-on collision after a police pursuit of a stolen car ended in horror in the NSW Northern Tablelands.

Police began pursuing the alleged stolen vehicle before 9am yesterday and the chase ended when the car collided head-on with a truck on the New England Highway north of Tamworth.

The male driver died at the scene while the truck driver sustained minor injuries and was taken to hospital. The truck caught fire and the blaze then spread to nearby bushland.
