GARDENING EXPO BLOSSOMS WITH CULT FIGURE COSTA A HIT

- NICHOLAS MCELROY

GARDENING enthusiasts turned out in spades for the Gold Coast’s biggest gardening exhibition yesterday.

More than 5000 people took part in Botanical Bazaar supported by Tropical Fruit World.

The show held at Country Paradise Parklands in Nerang boasted 80 exhibitors selling products including exotic mushrooms and backyard bee hives.

Organisers said crowds “ex-seeded” expectations which was in part thanks to a strong attendance by young families.

Tugun resident Kadie Brown said the host of ABC’s Gardening Australia TV program, Costa Georgiadis, had a cult following, especially for the dads who turned out on father’s day. “(Costa) had grown men lining up to see him,” Ms Brown said.
