DEAR no name. The comparison of ssm and the gst was to point out that when gst was introduced no one fully understood the ramifications all sales taxes were not abolished and in the end we just paid more tax. Watchout for the same trojan horse with ssm. – Citizen Jayne

So the Gold Coast domestic violence is sky high. Lets make more beer, hey even better, make a stronger strength one and get a kids blue koala to advertise it. F ...... g ridiculous Beattie.

When do we see the blue koala visiting the domestic violence centres?

Tom Tate boasting about how many Ferraris he has owned 2/9). Shows he is totally out of touch with ratepayers who are struggling to pay their power bills, and is mayor for the interests of the greedy business and political elites of Surfers Paradise and Southport only. He even has a go at the late Ron Clarke who drove a Prius hybrid but was mayor for ALL ratepayers. – Bellwether

When people think of the Gold Coast the Meter Maids are one of the first things that come to mind. If Peter Beattie wants a new sophisticated image, I suggest that he cuts out the alcohol first. Isn’t the domestic violence on the Coast at record levels?

Jane Miller, what a wonderful thing to do. Not many people could give so much and to so many. Thank you for being such an amazing person. I hope your wish soon comes true. – Queenie

I worry sometimes about some people passing on DNA. But not Jane Miller. What a generous, kind, giving woman. Truly an Angel here on earth.

These out-of-control coward youths bashing the older folk, bus drivers etc, I agree with the public, let them deal with them, in our day they would have been dealt with by the public, the police and the angry father. – Ken W

Bollards to stop trucks and cars is a good idea but what about some idiot wielding a machete from a motorbike? – PJ. Robina

Why don’t we stop exporting our gas and coal overseas and use it for ourselves? More jobs, lower prices. Save the reef from super containers and the fuel they use ..... etc ...

How could JMW forget to include the GC Meter Maids in the Commonwealth Games ceremonies? Don’t they know anything about the Gold Coast? Peter Beattie, hang your head in shame.

Curtis Pitt taking up 4 spaces in the chatroom pages. What a waste of space. 94,500 new jobs? The 900 lost jobs in the meat works and chicken factory closed is just the tip of the iceberg. 75 chicken farmers now obsolete, as well as the electricians, plumbers, truck drivers and all the rest employed down the line. I should imagine it is the same for the meat farmers. Shame on you useless Labor.

Employment minster Michaelia Cash encouraging businesses to promote women while pregnant or on maternity leave! Have you ever tried it in any business, no. Then of course the little darlings arrived and you see even less of them, but of course still paying a full time pay for an empty seat. Not fair on employers or other hard working staff who have to do their work along with their own. Selfish time wasters. Run a business with pregnant women? Bloody nightmare, never on time, leave early, time off for appointments. – Ken W
