RARE AIR FOR THIS FLYIN’ LION

- TERRY WILSON

PALM Beach-Currumbin Lions’ resident aerial artist Josh Woolley was at it again in the QAFL finals at the weekend.

PALM Beach-Currumbin officials will be sweating it out waiting to learn if captain Jesse Derrick will miss part or all of the rest of the QAFL finals through suspension.

Derrick has been referred to the match review panel after a second-quarter tackle that left Broadbeach player Rob Blood prone on the turf in the qualifying final at Salk Oval on Saturday.

Derrick, the reigning QAFL Grogan Medallist, appeared to catch Blood with a ball-and-all slinging action.

A groggy Blood was assisted from the field and, although he appeared all right in the Broadbeach sheds after the match, he subsequently spent the night in hospital.

AFLQ people will look at the match video this morning.

The Blood incident was followed by angry scenes after the full-time whistle when Palm Beach came back from a 14point deficit to win in added time, courtesy of two free kicks.

A number of Broadbeach players, officials and fans vented their spleen at the umpires and it has been confirmed that one Cats official has been reported for abuse as a result.
