No hint from Premier on election date

-

PREMIER Annastacia Palaszczuk will not say if she will consider delaying the State Election until an investigation into sidelined Minister Mark Bailey is complete.

Crime and Corruption Commission chair Alan MacSporran yesterday indicated the final report into whether Mr Bailey’s deletion of his personal email account amounted to corruption may not be finished until later this year.

“Idealy we would like to have something out this year but frankly I don’t want to preempt anything of that sort,” Mr MacSporran said.

State Archivist Mike Summerell handed his interim report on the email saga to the CCC last week.

When asked is she would consider holding off calling the election until Mr Bailey’s final fate was known, Ms Palaszczuk responded: “I said the election is due next year”.

She said the timing of the investigation was a matter for the CCC.
