THE DAY EMMA FELL FROM THE SKY
June 9, 2013:
● Emma goes tandem skydiving in Switzerland
● Ropes for main chute and safety chute tangle around her instructor’s neck
● Instructor loses consciousness and they hit the ground
● Impact fractures Emma’s back, her L1 vertebrae and her pelvis
● Paramedics fly Emma to hospital in Bern
The fracture to her L1 was a compression injury, which meant the vertebrae was not severed, making it possible for Emma to recover so she could walk again.
