FRUIT CORDIAL A ROARING SUCCESS

- KRISTY MUIR

A PACIFIC PINES mum has turned her thirst for middle eastern fruit drinks into a thriving business.

Maria Assatourian’s cordial firm, Roar Living, has become such a success that she now ships her drinks throughout Australia and overseas.

“It takes two hours to make,” she said. “I simmer the whole fruit and add in the other ingredients needed for each flavour.”

Miss Assatourian’s creations were inspired by the Middle Eastern custom of offering guests ‘sharbat’ – a thirst-quenching drink to beat the desert heat.

She makes her cordials in a range of flavours including strawberry, cool mint and plum pudding. She said that because she only uses natural ingredients, her drinks can be enjoyed by people with food intolerance issues.

“I have been helping people with allergies by giving them a natural option for cordial, jelly and iceblocks,” she said.
