Nuts cut cancer risk
OPTING for peanut butter, rather than marmalade, on toast can cut the risk of stomach cancer, say US researchers.
They analysed the nut and peanut butter intake of more than half-a-million people, and continued to monitor their health over 15 years.
They found those with the highest consumption had the lowest rate of gastric cancer, compared with those who ate no nuts or peanut butter. Nuts contain vitamins, minerals and antioxidants called polyphenols which might protect against this kind of cancer, say the authors of the study.
