I AM writing about the rising electricity prices.

I have been waiting for someone to interview the man who told Queenslanders, that when he privatised the retail section our electricity would get cheaper.

The opposite has happened. I would be interested in the interview and his reaction. It could be a front-page picture and an interesting interview and story.

I am sure Peter Beattie would look great on the front page. I REFER to the Federal Government’s compensation payment of some $70 million to the illegal “immigrants” who were confined

to Manus and Nauru islands.

Has the definition of the word “illegal” been redefined as meaning: “good-oh, give us some dosh and we’ll tell our mates that the Aussie government is good for a non-returnable bite”.

That money, of which lawyers will pocket a lot, would have been more appropriately spent helping our ADF veterans.

These veterans, at one point in their lives, wrote a blank cheque made payable to Australia.

It was for an amount of “up to and including my life”.

There have been 325 confirmed suicides between 2001-15 and an unknown number of former ADF members that were not reported. Those gallant men and women, who had done more for our country by risking or sacrificing their lives when in uniform or post-service, deserve government support.

The money should not go to some people who have swindled the government with the help of a bunch of lawyers.

They are out to fill their pockets at the taxpayers’ expense. INSTEAD of referring to “coward punch”, we should focus on “coward judges” who are meant to punish those who commit this crime.

Putting anti-coward punch ads in places like the cinemas in Australia Fair will only make things worse. People couldn’t care less unless the right deterrent is set. RE: “GHOUL tour” (GCB, 6/9): I knew Sir Bruce Small as “Uncle Bruce”, that’s how close our families were.

He and his wife Lady Lillian were inseparable. He managed my father’s cycling career in Australia and Europe.

Success came to him because he worked hard and had a vision for the Gold Coast and the region is better for it.

This proposed tour is being built on lies and is a disgrace to a great Australian. SO IT has come to this, the far left loonies have regressed civil liberties by introducing an alcohol register in the Northern Territory.

I have no problem with curbing alcohol abuse but this is not the way to do it.

It is a nanny state gone mad and is reminiscent of the “bona fide traveller” days.
