GC600 adds Braithwaite horsepower

- SUZANNE SIMONOT

DARYL Braithwaite will bring a different kind of horsepower to the Gold Coast 600 this year when he joins Delta Goodrem for a special outdoor show.

The Aussie vocal greats will open the first of two Broadwater Sounds race weekend concerts at Broadwater Parklands on October 20.

Braithwaite and Goodrem were among the stars who joined forces to perform at Olivia Newton John’s gala ball in Melbourne on the weekend to help raise funds for cancer research.

The former Sherbert frontman said he and NewtonJohn “held hands ... and were boyfriend and girlfriend for a week” during their time at primary school.

Braithwaite is back in the spotlight after undergoing surgery last December to have a tumour stomach.

He’ll play the Gold Coast 600 and the Falls Festival in January before he heads to Europe for a few shows in 2018 to mark the 30th anniversary of his hit album, Edge, and singles

As The Days Go By, One Summer and All I Do.
