Pair serious in hospital after fire

Two people were lucky to escape with their lives in a horror house fire at Worongary early yesterday. A 50-year-old woman and a 55year-old man were rushed to Royal Brisbane Hospital with serious burns to the face, chest and hands after the Mataranka Drive home went up in flames about 3.40am. A Queensland Fire and Emergency Service spokeswoma­n said the twostorey brick and tile house was “well involved” when fireys arrived on scene.

Child bitten by snake in Hinterland

A child was rushed to hospital after being bitten by a snake in the Gold Coast Hinterland yesterday. About 1.15pm paramedics said they received a call saying a 12-year-old boy had been bitten by a snake in the Currumbin Valley. He was taken to Tweed Hospital in a stable condition. It is unclear what species of snake bit him.

Ashy Bines’ hubby in hot water

The husband of controvers­ial Gold Coast fitness guru Ashy Bines has landed in hot water after he posted a ‘bad taste’ photo to Facebook, sparking online outrage. Steven Evans posted a photo last night of what appears to be a dead dog washed up on the beach in front of his Gold Coast home. The post was captioned: “What do you do when a dead dog ends up on your beach A) bury it B) leave it C) put in water and let someone else deal with it or hope sharks get it”.
