W-League rewarded

-

A YEAR ago there was no W-League soccer minimum wage as many players were left out of pocket but a landmark deal means nobody will earn less than $10,000.

W-League pay will virtually treble, with clubs’ base payments rising from $50,000 to $180,000 and the minimum W-League spend up from $450,000 to $1.62 million.

The figures rise again in 2018, to $12,287 (minimum salary), $221,166 (club base spend) and $1.99 million (W-League spend).

The CBA comes in a historic week for women’s soccer, with the Matildas to play before 40,000-plus fans in a twogame series against Brazil, starting Saturday at Penrith.
