NIGHT SKY’S THE LIMIT FOR ADRENALINE JUNKIES

- NICHOLAS MCELROY

GOLD Coasters will soon be allowed to climb the Southern Hemisphere’s tallest building under the cover of darkness.

SkyPoint will offer nighttime tours of the Q1 building in Surfers Paradise for the first time when the school holidays kick off on Friday.

Visitors will reach a height of 270m and climb a circuit of 298 stairs in the dark of night overlooking the Glitter Strip’s skyline.

The tour led by guides takes about 90 minutes.

The attraction’s executive general manager Paul Callander said the Night Climbs provided a new attraction with an adrenaline kick.

“The Gold Coast has one of the most iconic skylines in Australia and what better way to see it light up than 270 metres above the hustle and bustle of Surfers Paradise,” Mr Callander said.

They have been operating day and sunset climbs for more than five years.

Lovebirds Zane Powell and Courtney Monsma were recently given a sneak peak of the climb.

“It’s one of the most beautiful experiences and a little bit romantic as well,” Ms Monsma said.

Night climbs cost $84 each and are planned to run daily during the Queensland school holidays and Fridays and Saturdays outside of school holiday periods.
