There’s an old saying that it takes a thief to catch a thief.

At Hope Island, police have decided it takes a buggy to catch a buggy being driven dangerously, or by unlicensed or drunken drivers or kids out hooning around. That’s a Very GC way to tackle a problem and if it works, go for it.

But we can’t help wondering whether trail bikes might not be a better option for police, particularly if a buggy hoon tries to make a run for it overland. Police say numerous complaints have been made about unlicensed juveniles. Parents must know their kids are a problem so should act, or face legal consequences.
