Bellamy wrestles with rest balance

-

TO rest or not to rest – that’s the finals conundrum that not even Melbourne Storm coach Craig Bellamy will have the answer to before next Friday night’s preliminary final at AAMI Park.

Storm will play the winner of tonight’s semi-final between the Broncos and Penrith at Suncorp Stadium in Brisbane.

Bellamy last night ramped up preparations for the crunch final, overseeing a “solid session” with contact and some match simulation.

“Sometimes if you have a week off it does pull your momentum up,” he said.

“Sometimes the teams that play each week and come down from the fifth to eighth (on the ladder) they get some momentum..

“The team that wins the grand final is the best team in September and hopefully having that week off is going to help us freshen up a little bit so we can go in stronger next Friday night, but we’ve got to get our training right.

“You’d like to be able to not do any contact but you just can’t go for two weeks not doing any contact.”
