BANISH THE ‘B’ WORD

-

Do you think you’ll be able to get through these holidays without using the ‘b’ word? Of course you can.

There are loads of things you can do to be entertained but sometimes you need inspiration.

Here are a couple of tips. I’M BORED JAR

Jody Allen, founder of Stay at Home Mum, has come up with a great idea to avoid the “I’m bored” scenario – the ‘I’m bored’ jar

What you will need:

20 paddle pop sticks; small glass jar or cup; ribbon to make it pretty (optional); Sharpie pen or similar.

With your friends and family brainstorm a list of 20 activities that you would like to do during the holidays.

Write your ideas on the end of each paddle pop stick and place them word-side down in the jar.

As soon as you say those ‘infamous’ words… ‘I’m Bored’, take one and complete the task.

Jody has come up with a few suggestions.

Read a book Make some play dough Watch a movie Play a board game Make a bookmark

Make a pet rock

Bake some biscuits

DARING DICE

Make two square boxes. These are your dice.

On one die, write a different activity on each side, such as do a cartwheel or walk 10 steps backwards. On the other die, write mental challenges, like list the capital cities in Australia or spell your name backwards.

Each person rolls the dice and does the two challenges at the same time, like walking backwards while spelling your name backwards.

It’s harder than you think and a great laugh.

*There’s heaps of templates for cubes online.
