NSW role’s up in the air

-

THE NSW Rugby League board will meet on Friday to discuss whether to persist with a full-time coach or revert to a part-time coach, which could include an NRL assistant succeeding Laurie Daley.

NSWRL boss Dave Trodden said there was no use debating candidates until the board decided how it wanted to move forward. “It will consider whether to appoint a fulltime coach or a part-time coach,’’ Trodden said.

“There will be a different group of people available, depending on which way they go. In terms of part-time appointments, it’s not just NRL head coaches. There are NRL assistant coaches suitable as parttimers.’’

They could include John Cartwright, Jim Dymock, Dean Pay and Jason Taylor.

Trodden said there is no rush to find the next coach but that a decision would be made before Christmas.

Several players were noshows at the Brad Fittler Medal last week, but Trodden played down talk of it being a silent protest over the treatment of Laurie Daley.
