Cowboys warn Roosters not to get too cocky

-

THE Cowboys have fired off a warning to the Roosters, with the competition’s ultimate underdogs confident they have what it takes to cause yet another upset.

The two teams will meet on Saturday in the do-or-die preliminary final at Allianz Stadium, in what will be another big task for Paul Green’s side.

With the Roosters sitting at $1.40 favourites with Ubet, it seems that, again, no one is giving the Cowboys much of a chance. But after shock victories over Cronulla and Par- ramatta, North Queensland are confident they have the game to upset the Roosters.

Green was the first to back his side ahead of Saturday’s showdown, saying after the win over the Eels that the Cowboys could beat any team.

He said while they had a string of losses heading into the finals – starting with the Roosters in Round 21 – they still worried their opposition teams.

When asked if they had the style to beat the Roosters, Green’s reply was simple: “Yes.

“Even though we didn’t win those games, we were in them,” he said.

“I’ve said all along our game was good enough, there was plenty of evidence there to prove that. We just weren’t doing it for long enough. I knew if we could be more consistent, we can beat anyone.”

And his players are buying into that mindset. Playmaker Michael Morgan, who has become a true leader this season, said he had faith in his teammates and in Green that they could go all the way.

“The way we’ve been playing, I’m very confident,” he said. “I’m always confident we can win because of the belief in the group.”

The team also believe they have taken a lot of lessons from their losses.
