Terminator moves closer to reality
ARTIFICIAL muscles have been developed that could create robots able to lift 1000 times their own weight.
Using 3D printing, scientists developed a synthetic muscle that expands and contracts like its biological counterpart.
Heated by a small electric current, the material was capable of expanding to nine times its normal size.
Researchers, from Columbia University in New York, said the device was able to lift 1000 times its own weight, in a study published in the journal Nature Communications.
