HEARING specialist Don Hudson says the latest hearing aid technology allows the left and right hearing aids to communicate with one another.
He said this enabled a better overall sound quality and improved noise reduction and clarity for the wearer.
“An example of how the new technology works would be if the left hearing aid was picking up a predominant voice from the left side, the right hearing aid would be told to focus its microphone function to the left also, while both devices reduce other conflicting noise sources,” Mr Hudson said.
“This function improves the overall clarity of the voice coming from the left.”
Mr Hudson, from A1 Discreet Hearing Aids, said the latest Swiss devices operated in unison and also automatically, without the need for manual adjustment by the wearer.
“Following specific programming to match their hearing test results, 90 per cent of users can now just pop the devices on and away they go,” he said.
The company specialises in discreet hearing aid options for all clients, and is located at Q Super Centre in Mermaid Waters, the Coolangatta Medical Practice at 91 Griffith St, Coolangatta and Hope Island General Practice, 8 Halcyon Way, Hope Island.
Clients get a free hearing assessment and consultation, and eligible pensioners and veterans can get subsided or free devices through the government system.
