Coast guys chasing Sophie’s heart

Sophie Monk isn’t the only Gold Coaster putting her heart on the line in the new series of Channel 10’s The Bacheloret­te. Two of the 18 guys hoping to win her affections are also from here. Homegrown magician Apollo Jackson, aka Jack Spence, 24, and constructi­on foreman Ryan, 27, were introduced to fellow Coastraise­d Monk, 37, when the latest series premiered on Wednesday.

Busted: Baby formula warehouses

A baby formula warehouse loaded with pallets, shopping bags and trolleys of tins stripped from supermarke­t shelves to be sent to China has been uncovered. The stash of “white gold” product Aptamil was found by a Seven News crew, tucked away on a Gold Coast industrial estate to fulfil orders from the booming Chinese market for formula. “There are lots of companies that want to ship their parcels overseas, we just leave the formula here and it’s going there,” the factory manager said.

Police hunt man after machete attack

A woman has been attacked by a machete-wielding man running rampant in a Gold Coast suburb. Police with dog squads swarmed Cos Zantiotis Playing Fields near the intersecti­on of Olsen Ave and Brisbane Rd at Arundel after a woman had her leg sliced open by a man wielding a machete. Police believe the woman was attacked while crossing a bridge over Biggera Creek near the Labrador Lions AFL Sports Club.

Man trapped in a sensitive spot at gym

A most unfortunat­e man in Worms, Germany, got his penis stuck in the hole of a 2.5kg dumbbell plate at the gym. Firefighte­rs, using a hydraulic saw and a grinder, took three hours to free the man. He reportedly had to be sedated as firefighte­rs cut through and smashed the weight.
