Oh baby ... that’s special
PALM Beach-Currumbin coach Chad Owens and his young defender Liam McNeven capped an emotional week in their lives with their grand final victory.
For the pair it was definitely a dose of double celebrations – that of a QAFL grand final win coming on the backs of becoming fathers a week earlier.
“How about that,” a beaming Owens, who coached his first premiership title, said.
“I taught Liam as a kid at Palm Beach-Currumbin High, I coached him at footy and we’ve had kids – in the same hospital, in the same ward across the corridor and a day apart. Now we’ve just won a flag together.”
The arrival of Connor gave Owens and his wife Bee their second child, a boy Lewis.
Honey-Jaymes is the first child for McNeven and his fiancee Ruby.
