POLISHED COMPLEX GIVEN BIG THUMBS UP

-

CLEANER Jody Paul is giving the accommodation being readied for the Commonwealth Games athletes a big thumbs up.

She is among the last of developer Grocon’s contractors on site as it gets ready to hand it over temporarily to the Gold Coast Games organising committee (GOLDOC).

The SEQ Cleaning Group staffer (pictured), commuting from Brisbane to the Parklands Project site since early May, said she believed Games athletes would be more than happy with their temporary living quarters come April.

“If you were not proud of how this has turned out from the vacant space that it was two years ago there is something wrong with you,” she said.

She was particularly impressed by the spacious apartment balconies with room for a table and BBQ area.

As for the bright rainbow colour scheme, she said it would be motivating for athletes here to perform at world-class level.

“These people are coming here to compete and this is very in your face and let’s go. It’s going to get them out of bed with a bit of oomph.”

Once Commonwealth Games organisers take it over in coming weeks, they will add their own Games-related overlay including temporary buildings like the dining hall.
